Leee John

Leee John is the voice and frontman of Imagination, one of the most influential British groups of the early 1980s, whose worldwide sales exceed 30 million and whose catalogue includes Just An Illusion, Body Talk, Music And Lights, In The Heat Of The Night and Flashback. Their blend of soul, funk and electronic production defined an era and continues to be sampled and reinterpreted by artists including Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, The Pharcyde and Dimitri From Paris. Across more than forty years Leee has built an equally substantial career beyond the group, with UK Soul Chart number ones including Do It Right Now, Take Me Back and Gotta Get Over You, a UK Reggae Chart number one with Police & Thieves co-produced with Dennis Bovell, and a US Billboard Hot 100 number two with The Mighty Power of Love. He featured on Gorillaz’s The Lost Chord in 2020, followed by three sold-out nights at the O2, introducing his vocals to an entirely new generation. He has shared stages with Nile Rodgers, The Jacksons, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang and Incognito, and continues to tour internationally as Leee John of Imagination alongside his Leee John Jazz Quartet and solo shows.
