About Simon Gross
Simon Gross, known to audiences as Showbiz Simon, is a British entertainer whose career spans six decades and virtually every corner of the live entertainment industry. He began as a Butlins Redcoat at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough, went on to perform in children’s shows for the Rank Organisation, and made his West End debut playing Benny in Singalongabba at the Whitehall Theatre. His pantomime career spans over twenty years, with Dame roles opposite Gladiator Wolf, and appearances at venues including the Victoria Theatre Halifax, the Pavilion Theatre Worthing and the Stag Theatre Sevenoaks. Television credits include Noel’s House Party, Channel 4’s What the Butler Saw and Hell’s Kitchen on ITV1. In 2015 he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, becoming the first housemate in the show’s history to be evicted on launch night, lasting just two hours before being invited back two weeks later and remaining for thirty days. His catchphrase Showbiz, which he reportedly used over 400 times on opening night alone, made him one of the most talked-about housemates of the series. A natural, warm and endlessly entertaining live performer with a career that has genuinely seen it all.
