Some agencies talk about heritage. We’ve spent forty years building it, one booking, one venue, one reliable night at a time. Big Bang started in 1986, when Steve Markbride set out to do something fairly simple and surprisingly rare: be the name in personal appearances that people could actually count on. No drama, no no-shows, no last-minute scrambles. Just the right talent, in the right venue, on the right night, every time.
It worked because Steve understood the one thing this industry really runs on: relationships. And not long after he started, he found the person who would come to embody that better than anyone. Yusef Mohamed joined as lead agent and spent the best part of four decades as the face, the voice and the beating heart of Big Bang. If you’ve booked talent through us at any point over the years, chances are you spoke to Yusef, and chances are you remember it. He had a rare gift for making everyone, clients and artists alike, feel properly looked after.
We lost Yusef last year. It’s a loss still felt across the team, across our roster, and across the many venues and promoters who came to think of him as a friend as much as an agent. But what he and Steve built together hasn’t gone anywhere. If anything, it’s exactly what carries us forward.
Same family. Same standards.
Big Bang Talent is now led by Charlie Reid Mohamed, Yusef’s wife, and someone who knows this business, and these values, from the inside out. Charlie has taken the reins to grow what Yusef and Steve created and take it confidently into its next era.
For Charlie, this is personal. Continuing Big Bang Talent in Yusef’s name is a way to honour everything he gave to the agency, and to keep what he and Steve built together moving forward. That matters to her as much as anything, and it runs through every decision we make.
It also means the things that have always defined Big Bang stay exactly as they are. The reliability. The straight talking. The genuine care for the artists we represent and the clients we serve. The understanding that behind every booking is a relationship worth protecting.
What changes is everything around it.
A new home online
This marks the start of a refreshed Big Bang Talent: a new look, a new online presence, and a brand that finally matches the reputation we’ve spent four decades earning. And we could not be more excited about it.
Our new website is taking shape and will service venues, promoters and event organisers, making finding and booking the right talent quicker and easier than ever. For artists and their management, it will show exactly what it means to be on the Big Bang Talent roster, because growing our roster is a huge part of where we’re heading.
We want to bring more of the country’s most exciting talent under the Big Bang Talent name: established favourites, rising influencers, in-demand DJs, musicians and personalities ready to make personal appearances work for them.
And there’s plenty more to come. New artist profiles, fresh content, and a steady flow of talent and event news. This blog you’re reading is part of that too. It’s where we’ll share new signings, talent spotlights, event highlights, the occasional industry take, and a proper look behind the scenes at how a booking actually comes together. If you want to know what Big Bang Talent is thinking, this is where you’ll find it.
Still the most trusted name in personal appearances
Plenty has changed in the entertainment industry since 1986. The talent looks different: reality stars, influencers and DJs now sit alongside the soap names and tribute acts. The platforms are different. The pace is different.
What hasn’t changed is what clients actually want: talent that delivers, an agency that picks up the phone, and the confidence that when Big Bang Talent commits to something, it happens.
And more than anything, we’re excited to keep doing what we’ve always done: serving the industry that made Big Bang Talent what it is today. Forty years in, that has never felt more worth doing.
That was true when Steve took the first booking in 1986. It was true through every one of Yusef’s years. And it’s true today, with Charlie at the helm and the next chapter just getting started.
Same family. Same standards. New chapter.
